Assembly Manager Daniele Cazzato:
„The cooperation with Phoenix Mecano Komponenten AG was really powerful. Within 4 weeks the finished assembly line was in our hall, and along with SETAGO helped us to increase productivity by up to 30 %»
Productivity increase of up to 30 % within 4 weeks!
With the market launch of a new hydraulic system, GRIBI Hydraulics AG has captured the pulse of the times. The new product was so well received by customers that the volume of orders increased massively. In order to be able to provide the market with the usual quality, reliability and adherence to delivery dates, a solution had to be found. A productivity increase of at least 20 % was therefore imperative.
For GRIBI Hydraulics AG, it is a particular challenge because the components are almost identical, but there is a left-hand and a right-hand version of the hydraulics. In order to achieve the highest process reliability for the future and to be able to guarantee the corresponding quality, the installation of a SETAGO Pick-to-Light factory guidance system for the assembly workstation was essential.
In the past, the components of the hydraulic system were assembled at individual workstations by way of so-called badge production. This resulted in relatively long and time-consuming runs. The warehousing of the individual parts was also costly and permanently resulted in unnecessarily large stocks. The target was to realise the project in the shortest possible time in order to meet the market demand for the newly developed product as quickly as possible. It was also important that the new assembly line meet all the requirements of «lean production».
Due to the successfully implemented projects in the past and the positive experience with mobile assembly trolleys, the company again relied on this solution and the SETAGO Pick-to-Light assembly workstation system from Phoenix Mecano during the design phase. Since a well thought-out arrangement of the components at the assembly workstation ultimately even allowed the test stand to be integrated directly into the assembly line, the assembly process can now take place in a one-piece flow. The advantages are obvious. There are no more walking routes and also the complex stock-keeping is unnecessary due to the Kanban system, which is common in lean production. With an increase in production of up to 30 %, the original target was far exceeded in the end.
From the initial idea to the completion and acceptance of the installation on site, Phoenix Mecano Komponenten AG was a reliable companion. The excellent cooperation between design engineers from Phoenix Mecano Komponenten AG and product specialists from GRIBI Hydraulics AG made the project a complete success. It allowed the employees of GRIBI Hydraulics AG to benefit from simpler assembly processes and their customers equally from the highest quality and guaranteed short delivery times.
